Designing and Developing Digital Outcomes PO2
The work highlighted here is an example of how we have taken a Turangawaewae term 1 focus and turned it into a DDDO activity where the class makes its own digital museum of taonga. The aim here is to say that we can use technology to share and value treasures from home, without ever endangering them or compromising their integrity or mana.
We have asked students to identify some object that has cultural meaning or an object that they or their whanau strongly identify with and have recollections of or stories about. The students then photograph that object and record stories from various family members about that object. The students then combine all of these different materials into one presentation, in this case, we have used a tool called Genal.ly but any tool would suffice to collate the resource. Once each child has created their own individual resource, we have then further collated the individual taonga into a website for the whole class to share and reflect on.
If you want us to make more of this kind of resource please contact us at david@dakinane.com and we will make more resources to share with you, related to your need.
