Computational Thinking PO4
This activity is a CT PO4 activity. The support materials for this task are minimal as it is intended for students who already have a good grounding in Computational Thinking and are confident in the use of Scratch or Tynker or even BBC Micro:bits. This activity is a good example of all Computational Thinking Progress Outcome indicator descriptors’ initial sentence. “In authentic contexts and with end users in mind, students shall…” In this case, the totalling coins exercise is far too easy for a PO4 student but making a learning artefact for a younger student as the result of a ‘brief’ from the younger students’ teacher is an authentic context combined with knowledge of the needs and requirements of the ultimate end user of the product.
