Computational Thinking PO1/2 – unplugged

This activity is an unplugged activity.  Weaving is an algorithm and so is a great activity for students to give and follow sequential unambiguous instructions.  In this activity the students make their own paper weaves and photograph them to demonstrate their outcomes.

Obviously this activity can be extended in many different directions.  Students can work with different materials, set up their own looms etc.  It is also an ideal opportunity for students to investigate the algorithms of tukutuku panels  or Kete weave patterns and to create their own, recording the algorithm for creating the weave and then sharing their created output.
