Computational Thinking PO3

This challenge builds on our other Micro:Bit challenges and as such is pretty minimal on support detail for teachers.  If you are new to Micro:Bit, this is not the challenge to start with.  You might prefer to start with our Motor Challenge which is a structured challenge to build a remote-controlled car over four projects.

In this particular challenge students have to solve the issue of ensuring that all trampers entering the bush clean their feet before entering, to protect Kauri from die back.

The aim is to create a solution where the tramper can not enter the bush until they have cleaned their shoes.  A red light is permanently on and a message scrolls across the Micro:Bit screen reminding trampers to clean their shoes.  If they then stand on the switch (the shoe cleaning station) the red light turns green, the servo opens the gate and the tramper proceeds.  This challenge could easily be adapted into a real life technology challenge for students to solve a real-world problem.
