Writing:

In this activity the students are asked to look at both sides of an argument.  In the first instance they have to think of four valid arguments for a position, then think of four valid counter points.  Once they have done this they are then asked to write a powerful opening paragraph to make the case for the position they most agree with.  Finally they are asked to repeat the exercise but from the opposing point of view.
